The first trailer for No Time to Die has finally been released. And Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond looks pretty spectacular. It sees the British spy coming out of retirement to battle a new threat. Rami Malek’s terrorist character Safin. While confronting old enemies like Christoph Waltz’s Blofeld. And new faces like Lashana Lynch’s Nomi. The trailer shows explosions, interrogations, beautiful landscapes. Lots of good fashion and Bond jumping off a bridge.
The trailer opens with Bond and Dr. Madeleine Swann driving through the southern Italian city. Matera in the classic, iconic Aston Martin DB5. Well, when I say driving, I mean drifting around while being chased by a motorcycle. And a pair of Jaguar XF sedans. The whole side of the DB5 is scraped up, so it definitely sees some action. More on that later. Having just gotten his DB5 back in Spectre after it was blown to pieces in Skyfall. Q can’t be too happy that Bond is messing up his classic Aston. Again.
Next up we see a brief shot of Bond taking a sheet off a 1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. A personal favorite of mine. But we’ll come back to that one. Lynch’s character Nomi is seen pulling up next to Bond. In a brand-new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. One of two modern Astons that will be featured in the movie. She seems like a total badass and rumor has it she’s a 007 agent. That might be Bond’s replacement at MI6, so the DBS is fitting.

No Time to Die Movie Production
In March 2017, screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade—who have worked on every Bond film since The World Is Not Enough (1999)—were approached to write the script. Sam Mendes stated that he would not return after directing Skyfall and Spectre. Christopher Nolan ruled himself out to direct. By July 2017, Yann Demange, David Mackenzie, and Denis Villeneuve were courted to direct the film. In December 2017, Villeneuve opted out of the role due to his commitments to Dune.
In March 2017, screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade—who have taken a shot at each Bond film since The World Is Not Enough 1999 were drawn nearer to compose the content. Sam Mendes expressed that he would not return in the wake of coordinating Skyfall and Specter. Christopher Nolan precluded himself to coordinate. By July 2017, Yann Demange, David Mackenzie, and Denis Villeneuve were sought to coordinate the film. In December 2017, Villeneuve quit the job because of his duties to Dune. In February 2018, Danny Boyle was established as a frontrunner for the directing position. Boyle’s original pitch to Broccoli and Wilson saw John Hodge writing a screenplay based on Boyle’s idea, with Purvis and Wade’s version scrapped. Hodge’s draft was greenlit and Boyle was confirmed to helm the film with a production start date of December 2018. However, Boyle and Hodge left the production in August 2018 due to creative differences. During Boyle’s time as director, a leaked casting sheet described the male leading role as a “cold and charismatic Russian” and the female leading role as a “witty and skillful survivor”. The production also sought male supporting roles of Māori descent with “advanced combat skills”. It was reported at the time that Boyle’s exit was due to the casting of Tomasz Kot as the lead villain; however, Boyle later confirmed the dispute was over the script.
Following Boyle’s departure, the film’s release date became contingent on whether the studio could find a replacement within sixty days. Cary Joji Fukunaga was announced as the new director in September 2018.
